LOOK BEYOND THE SURFACE

EXCAVATION

The first step in any project is the excavation of grass and topsoil 10’’deep on non-vehicular hardscape installations and 14’’ deep on driveways and retaining walls. However the depth will depend on soil type, clay soil requires deeper excavation.

GRAVEL BASE

The installation of geotextile fabric is crucial in the preparation of any base since it provides extra support, as well as acts as a barrier to prevent contamination of the base material from your subsoil.

Over the geotextile fabric, the excavated area will be filled 6 to 8 inches with a 3/4 limestone crush. Using the right equipment, compacted soil will be able to support whatever is placed on it.

BEDDING LAYER

Once the base layer has been placed and compacted 1 to 2 inches of High-Performance Bedding ( crushed, washed limestone that is about 1/4″ ) will be spread out and smoothed on top of the solid gravel base. This layer allows paver or wall units to be levelled or sloped for smoothness and drainage.

RESTRAINT SYSTEM

The edge of the surface will be secured with concrete or snap edges with spikes.

LAYING THE PAVERS

Once the bedding layer has been placed and smoothed out, the pavers are laid on the bedding course.

Our recommended manufacturers offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on most of their products. Each paver and slab is manufactured using compression-moulding technology, making it far denser and stronger than poured concrete.
Our paver craftsmanship is where the true difference becomes apparent.
Ask us about HD2. These pavers have a smoother, less pitted surface, offer more vibrant colours, higher density and resistance to salt damage than even traditional pavers and they look absolutely gorgeous.

JOINT MATERIAL

The color you choose for joint material impacts the overall aesthetic. It also plays an important role between pavers, in keeping weeds and other debris out. We will help you decide which joint material is right for your project.

Polymeric Sand is a special sand that stays in place long because it is combined with a binding agent.

SEALING

Pavers will be durable with, or without, a sealer. Some homeowners choose to apply a sealer to enhance the color of the pavers, while others choose to appreciate the color of the pavers as they are. Some pavers are sold factory sealed. If you choose to seal, you should plan to re-seal every 3-5 years.
